We have entries from 4 schools in this year's program -
Penfield High School, Bay Trail Middle School, Cobbles Elementary and Harris Hill Elementary School

The theme is "Believe, Dream, Inspire".

Recognition:
  • Local - school PTA/PTSA
    • For each PTA/PTSA in good standing, two winners per category & age level are advanced to GVPTA
    • All participants are recognized with a certificate presented by the Reflections chair(s), school principal and/or PTA/PTSA president
    • Other awards based on budget
    • Entries may be displayed in school display cases or at Arts of Education events
    • Entries NOT advancing are returned in December
  • Regional - Genesee Valley PTA
    • All locally advanced entries are invited to a GVPTA reception in late January/early February where entries advancing to the NYS PTA level of judging are announced
    • Each entry receives a participation certificate
    • Entries NOT advancing are returned at the GVPTA reception
  • State - New York State PTA
    • Award of Excellence to the entry with the highest score for each arts category in each division. These entries will advance to the National PTA level.
    • Award of Merit to the next four entries with the highest scores for each arts category in each division.
    • New York State PTA Award recipients are announced after the Legislation/Education Conference in March.
    • New York State PTA recognizes and celebrates the state level award recipients during the Awards Session at the annual New York State PTA Convention in November. Hundreds of attendees from across the state get to enjoy the students’ artwork exhibited in the New York State PTA Reflections Art Gallery at Convention.
    • State level entries receive a certificate and ribbon
    • State level winners are recognized at the GVPTA Spring Conference in May
    • Entries NOT advancing are returned in May
  • National PTA
    • Outstanding Interpretation Award - Presented to one student in each arts category and the Special Artist Division for best theme interpretation. Recipients receive $800, a gold medal, and an $200 award for their local PTA. Awardees are recognized at the National PTA Annual Convention and Exhibition in June and their artwork may be displayed at an exhibit in the U.S. Department of Education in Washington, DC.
    • Award of Excellence - Presented to the top three scores for each arts category in each Division. In 2012, PTA recognized 72 students with Awards of Excellence. Recipients received $200, a bronze medal, and were mentioned in the National PTA’s Awards Ceremony Program. They may be highlighted during an exhibit at the U.S. Department of Education in Washington.
    • Award of Merit - Presented to the next five highest scores for each arts category in each division. In 2012, PTA recognized 116 students with Awards of Merit. Recipients received a certificate.
    • The National PTA Award recipients are announced via news release and on www.pta.org at the end of May. State PTA Presidents and State PTA Reflections Specialists are notified via email. The National PTA Outstanding Interpretation Award recipients are honored at the National PTA Convention Awards session as well as during the Arts in Education Luncheon.
    • New York State PTA will contact the students who have received national recognition, except for the Outstanding Interpretation Award recipients. National PTA notifies Outstanding Interpretation Award recipients and coordinates their travel to the National PTA Convention where they are recognized.
    • Entries NOT advancing are returned in December of following year
